‘DOLPHIN’ PACKAGE – 7 DAYS Home » Diving/Safari tours » Dolphin package 5 DAYS/ 10 DIVES / 7 NIGHTS – WASINI ISLAND
After arrival, meet our guide on the Mombasa airport, and take the transfer to Wasini Island, which is 2 hours drive South from Mombasa. If you arrive soon enough, can start diving the same day, or can choose to rest for the day.
Next morning, after breakfast, we take a boat and head to one of the numerous dive sites in the area. The majority of the dive sites – with a few exceptions – are quite shallow, 13-16 metres deep, which is particularly favoured by photographers. Wasini and its surroundings are included in the Mpunguti National Park.
Wasini Island is famous about the bug population of dolphins, living around the island and the channel.
At the shallow dive sites, we can meet turtles, lobsters, colourful tropical fish in huge shoals, dolphins and between November and February manta rays or even whale shark too. At deeper dive sites, it is almost guaranteed to see black tip reef sharks.
On the boat we serve tea, coffee, water, soft drinks, biscuits and fruits between the dives, and there is a restroom on the boat, where you can also change.
Those not diving, can spend the day snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing, and those who do not want to get wet at all, can see the wonderful marine life of the coral reefs through the glass bottom viewer from a small boat.
We get back to the island in the afternoon, where Chef Mohammed will await us with a five-course lunch. The courses include soup, lobster, sea fish roasted on live coal, Indian curry, chicken- beef- or vegetable ragout, and side dishes like rice, chips, and the unmissable African chapati – flat griddle cake.
Finally, we can have some coffee or tea and tropical fruits.
There are unlimited soft drinks, and you can also have beer or wine for the lunch.
Late in the afternoon, you can either take a rest, go for a walk on the island, swim in front of the dive centre, or watch the wonderful sunset, sitting in an armchair on the terrace.
For the three-course dinner, we will either have seafood, chicken or beef prepared in African style, and the last course is
always tropical fruits.
There are five boat days and ten guided dives in the package. We will also take you to the ancient fossil coral garden situated on the West of the island, which, being in the flood area, is surrounded by mangrove swamps.
For the last day, and also for non-divers, we have several optional programmes: sightseeing tour in Mombasa, one-day stalking wild animals in the East-Tsavo National Park, kite surfing on Diani Beach, but those wanting to go out, can also have plenty clubs to choose from.
