Peace Corps has a growing demand for seasoned TEFL professionals as well as recent college graduates with little teaching experience. We are currently filling hundreds of assignments in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific. Over 7,600 Peace Corps Volunteers are serving in 77 countries around the world, providing practical assistance to communities that request it. English teachers in the Peace Corps teach at the secondary or university level or train local English teachers. All Peace Corps positions are 27 months and include 3 months of intensive, in-country, language and cultural training.
Benefits include:
• Travel Expenses
• Living Allowance
• Housing
• Full Medical and Dental Coverage
• 3 Months Intensive Language and Technical Training
• 48 Leave Days
• $7,425 Upon Completion of Service
• Graduate School Opportunities
• Career Development
As an English teacher in the Peace Corps, you will be serving a community that could not otherwise afford to hire a native English teacher. Peace Corps Volunteers truly become members of the communities in which they serve. Most Volunteers formally teach English for 15 to 20 hours and also work beyond the classroom in the community developing school gardens, sports teams, theater and music groups, health workshops, libraries, computer labs, and other imaginative projects. Many of these projects are funded by the Peace Corps Partnership program.
Since 1961, more than 195,000 Americans have served as Peace Corps Volunteers in 139 countries.
Peace Corps Volunteers must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old and in good health. Married couples welcome. No upper age limit.
