My Background, Introduction & Welcome to the Group
Hello, my name is Gia. I started this group in 2013, but had to postpone organizing group meetings due to a change in life circumstances. (I had to travel for business, then re-locate from Arizona for 6 months and then travel back to Las Vegas to set up shop again). I also had a few family emergencies, including a personal re-structuring on my life. (I went through a divorce & loss to a family member). So yes! Life can be full of surprises and it can be very challenging! What I want to say to each and every student of English who joins this group is this: You have an excellent teacher and group leader here. More importantly and for yourselves, never give up! It’s up to all of us to engage to have one of the best ESL Groups on Meetup.com. This commitment is for you, us, and all future new students.
I started ESL Carnival in 2010 after my left leaving my counseling position at a college in Chicago. I loved working from home and teaching ESL online to students in Russia and China. In late 2014, I decided to change the name of my ESL company from ESL Carnival to ESL Carnival Academy. (This was after attaining some media marketing and sponsorships from companies listed under the academy’s media page). Visit that page here.

Thank-you for your recent inquiry to ESL classes. We are so glad that you were able to find us online as this is a perfect platform for learning English. We originally started teaching English in-person for ESL students in Shanghai, China in 2004. Since then we have migrated over to teaching ESL Online via/Skype, with our state-of-the art English supportive services, for students all over the world. At current we are teaching students ages 12 to adult from the following countries: USA, Russia, France, Italy, Brazil, South Korea and China. (At current we will not be holding classes in-person in the Las Vegas area again until February 2015).

The Las Vegas/Henderson English as a Second Language Group holds classes Learning English as a Second Language, English Conversation and English Styles with Cultures & Practice. We are a new group that will be working with all Adult Learners of English to come together at bi-monthly meetings in order to learn how to speak English better.
Classes will be held in the Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and Green Valley areas of Nevada. Our 2014 sessions will be held beginning this January. (Find out about 2014 class schedules and the dates for enrollment on our calendar or send me an e-mail for more information).
The Instructor has taught American History and History for English Speaking countries in Shanghai, China during the 2006-07 school year & has a total of three years of teaching in Asia. The Instructor has also taught a class size of 125 students using educational tools such as Power Point and constructive ESL video. Previous to that the instructor taught ESL in rural China at the university level but teaches the average student who has at least a 6th grade level of English.
Our mission at The Las Vegas/Henderson English as a Second Language Group is to work with the adult’s beginning ability and then over a short period of several months to bring new enlightenment to how one learns to pronounce English words. The method of the Instructor has been practiced in Shanghai, China over several years and will include the following tutorial sessions:
1) How to Speak English Better in 30 Days
2) The Actual Practice Set - Correct Pronunciation
3) Sound Dissemination & Co-Articulation of English Words
The Instructor is a highly skilled English teacher and literacy advocate with a natural ability for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), and I have received outstanding recommendations from previous schools in China. The instructor uses her tried & true, “The Notebook Method” for teaching, advising, mentoring & practicing the English language.
The Instructor is always interested in opportunities which entail cross-cultural communication and travel opportunities for youth, teen and adult literacy programs. The instructor’s proficiencies are in conversational English, linguistics, second language acquisition, language pedagogy, methodology, materials development, testing and research, curriculum and syllabus design, program administration, and international TEFL programs.
