We have noticed a lot of new registrations on our new website, ESL Carnival Academy. Please continue to place your registrations as we plan on having the brand new website up in time for you to enroll into mid-summer ESL 101 & ESL 201 classes. Unlike on our corporate website, Sit-Speak-Eat.com, our new website we will be offering short classes that relate to certain professions, skills, hobbies, and other classes which speak to individualized courses. These short-term courses will assist you as you continue your aim in speaking English for effectively. So, more updates on this to come this weekend. Please continue to register and look for ESL Carnival Academy's new courseware in June.

New Blog: A Transformative experience

TRY 300 MILES UP THE STRAIGHTS OF MACKINAC INTO NEWFOUNDLAND: USA'S TIN LIZZIE'S SOLO ON THE TICKLEI'm not sure what kind of papers you'd need to just rip it with your cruiser, to sail up the straights of Mackinac into Newfoundland, Labrador, or to any other North American island. But Tin Lizzie would most certainly know about steering her own vessel in almost any kind of weather. Got water for your terrain? Well just "Sail on" is her motto for summer 2015. Does this sound like you? Is your world a nautical one? Well, if so, consider this.
I was supposed to spend the summer of 2014 on The Nyad Cruiser in Cali, but of course got sidetracked. Beth's Boat is inhabited by EL Captaina Tin Lizzie, hundreds of great admirers who frequent the parked vessel for summer habitual socializing, and a big black nameless hunting hound. Tin Lizzie is a nomad, a pilgrimage and risk taker, and a trailblazer who just so happens to be my friend and confidant for the past five years. She's an exceptional 100k marathon runner, health & fitness enthusiast, a human rights activist, and a previous content writer for ESL Carnival Academy. She's a fun and courageous Amazonian at Sea and definitely a leader of the Women-Can-Do-Anything pact, and she is a part of a tribunal of herculean voyagers. Her role model is the other ocean cruiser, Diana Nyad. In 2012-13, Lizzie ended up running 5 marathons, 4 50Ks, a 44 mile Rim to Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon, a 100K, and a 28 mile Quad Dipsea. Peaches and Maple leafs! Peaches because I think so many things are just peachy, and today, my life is suddenly flowing with the scent of maple leafs. When I was younger, I wish I had known, that God sometimes places before us an opportunity to experience a transformative experience. It's more than just a challenge or even a personal best. It becomes me, the person transcending into parts unknown, partly discovered by a leap of faith. My transformative experience isn't scaling the rock face of Mt. Everest, obtaining a Phd in mirco-biotics, or running the Boston marathon. My transformative experience will be my nearly one-month long writing, walking, women experience with thirty-four other women writers along Newfoundland's Trans Canada Trail. I am apart of the 2015 Fellowship of women writers bound for Newfoundland, who also walk around the world. This trip, this blog, is now apart of my legacy. I decided to make this trip, my adventure almost a year ago, and now I have three months until the much anticipated trip. When I think of Canadians, I think about the accents of the Parisians in Paris, or the Italians in Rome. But when I was a kid, as an American woman from Chicago, I could never hear the accents of the Canadians, therefore never hearing their call. But now, I hear their pronunciations, their phonetics, and the word stress on all of their chippy and syrupy, English words. (More - The Transformative Blog) |

The Multi-talented amy walker
We have a lot of students who love this Youtube video. This video really examines language use and as you view it, you really can hear all of the beautiful accents of the world. Many times we forget just how beautiful our languages are. Additionally, Amy Walker is an actress and a one-of-a-kind. It must have taken her years of practice to complete this video. Furthermore, not too many people are able to do what she has done. Some people might be able to learn a few different accents but not 21.
So, enjoy this video and compare the many accents in the video to ways in which you can view your own study of the English language. (Many of our students may hear the many dialects, (or accents), from the many different states that Amy is performing from the USA).

ESL Carnival Academy - "We Love Jon stewart"
Sometimes, America just has to laugh at itself. Here at the Academy, we love to take breaks from ESL teaching to acknowledge great comedians. Also, in keeping with our Carnival theme, we recognize when things are just too plain funny. Additionally, we have a couple of staff members whose birthday is April 1st - or April Fool's Day. Anyway, we'll miss Jon Stewart, although his humor is legendary. Here is Jon's recent ode to big American corporations who really "care" about Americans & the American diet. Love your jokes, Mr. Stewart!
