LE JOURNAL LITTÉRAIRE
DE ESL CARNIVAL - Guidelines:
Guidelines - We welcome unsolicited submissions at any time. We are a relatively new magazine and our readers support levels of literary in Travel Writing and Teaching English Second Language Abroad. We publish non-fiction, reportage, social commentary, memoir, poetry, unusual ethnic recipe & culinary, and art as these items relate to TRAVEL. We do not publish academic essays or book reviews. (Please state what type of literary piece you are submitting along with your writing material in your cover letter).
We only publish original material, i.e. first-ever publication. We cannot run a piece that has already appeared on the web or elsewhere in print. We can, however, publish an original translation if the work has previously appeared in another language. We have no set maximum length or minimum length, though most of our submissions are between 1,000-3,000 words. (700-1000 words for ESL Carnival's LE JOURNAL LITTÉRAIRE Travel Writing Competitions on Twitter).
We accept submissions in only one category at a time. Travel writing and other non-fictional categories, in addition to poetry and art will be considered for both our online editions at ESL CARNIVAL or SIT-SPEAK-EAT.COM, unless you specifically state otherwise in your cover letter a preference for one of our magazines.
Please include a cover letter stating where your work has been published before, if relevant.
Please do not submit book manuscripts.
Please only submit work written in English. (In 2016, we will also be accepting entries written in French. LE JOURNAL LITTÉRAIRE has a goal to represent one-half of the journal in English, one-half in French).
Please note that we are not in a position to comment on your work. We receive a significant number of submissions per month, many of which may be unsuitable for our magazine, however well written.
We aim to respond to submissions within 30 days of receipt.
We look forward in receiving your submission about traveling in foreign countries. (We have special interests with entries depicting travels to Paris).
